CLAYTON CHILD CENTER/CLAYTON ACADEMY ANNUAL FUND

"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."
                                                                                    - Winston Churchill

What is the Annual Fund?:

The Annual Fund is what enables our school to grow each year.  It is money to support the school's current-year operating expenses.  These gifts make up the difference between what tuition covers and the actual cost of running the school.  Gifts are usually unrestricted (meaning that the donors allow the school to spend them on whatever it deems necessary) and are almost never spent on items outside the operating budget.

What it buys:  Teacher's salaries and benefits, teaching tools, education technology, equipment, and continuing education for staff.

Participation - What is it?  The percentage of those who give a gift of any size to the school.  We aim for 100% participation to the Annual Fund.  The size of your gift is not nearly as important as your willingness to participate.

Why it's important?  High participation is a vote of confidence.  It's a sign that parents invest in their childrens' welfare and support the school's mission.  This percentage also has an impact on potential gifts from outside funding sources.  Most foundations consider parent participation rates before agreeing to donate funds to a school.

Matching Gifts - What are they?  Many employers will match their staff's philanthropic contributions.  Matching gifts provide the opportunity to double or triple your gift.  Contact your employer for more information.

Other Gift Options:
Gift of Stock
You may want to consider your current stock for your next gift to the school.  Generally, gifts of appreciated stock are valued, for charitable deduction purposes, as of the date of the gift, not the cost at which the donor acquired the stock.  Donors who would otherwise pay capital gain taxes on the sale of such stock find the stock gift option appealing.  You will need to consult your tax adviser about the importance of the timing of the gift and your ability to receive a tax deduction, and avoid capital gains taxes in connection with the donation.

Honor/Memorial gifts are a great way for a student, parents or friends to honor someone on a special occasion or as a memorial to a loved one.  If you wish to make such a gift in memory of or in honor of someone special, please contact the Development Office.

Tribute gifts provide a way for parents, students, grandparents, and friends of our school community to honor someone on a special occasion.  Such gifts can be made in mention of a graduation, new baby, birthday, anniversary, etc.  To make a tribute gift, please contact the Development Office.

Include Clayton Child Center, Inc. in your estate planning.
